Disclosures  – Advertising, Reviews and Affiliate Link Programs

Howdy there…Here are my disclosures at this point in time.

  • This blog is a personal blog written and edited by me. All content on SillyNothings is copyrighted, and may not be reprinted in full form without my written consent.

(I have really no idea why I’m possessed to confess all of my random thoughts here, but it feels sort of necessary. I use the word “editing” very loosely. Perhaps I should consider editing more.)

  • For any questions about this blog, please contact me at lesley (at) sillynothings dot com.

(You do know to replace the (at) with @ and the dot com with .com, right…I’m just trying to outrun the spambots).

  • This blog accepts forms of cash advertising, sponsorship, paid insertions or other forms of compensation.

(However, for the life of me, I have no idea who would pay me for any of this. I am begging for it. Wait now…the following companies should start forwarding me checks: Apple, VW, Mini Cooper, Nordstrom, WordPress, Google, Room & Board, Design Within Reach, Costco, Gap, Old Navy, Walt Disney World and BOB strollers. I’ve been running my mouth for years about your products and have gotten you many new customers. So, you owe me for the free advertising.)

  • This blog abides by word of mouth marketing standards. We believe in honesty of relationship, opinion and identity. The compensation received may influence the advertising content, topics or posts made in this blog. That content, advertising space or post will be clearly identified as paid or sponsored content.

(Are you kidding me? If I actually receive any money from any company, I will proudly display it and tell you. Again, can’t figure out why anyone would pay me, but hey, I’m open to it.)

  • I am currently looking at affiliate programs. I spend so much money at some places that I figure I might get some money from my own shopping. If and when I start any affiliate link programs, I will add them to a full list here. My advice…if you already shop at these places and you’re spending money there anyway, maybe you’ll want to click through my site so that I’ll get a 2 cents commission. If you don’t shop at that particular store, ignore it. Ideally, I’m looking for affiliate programs where I’m already spending a crapload of my own money.
  • The owner(s) of this blog is not compensated to provide opinion on products, services, websites and various other topics. The views and opinions expressed on this blog are purely the blog owners. If we claim or appear to be experts on a certain topic or product or service area, we will only endorse products or services that we believe, based on our expertise, are worthy of such endorsement. Any product claim, statistic, quote or other representation about a product or service should be verified with the manufacturer or provider.

(Please refer to my personally designed header…I am an expert in NOTHING. I  am interested in a ton of things and I know a little about a lot, but I’m really an expert in NOTHING. If I am spewing on about how great something is, please do verify my over enthusiastic claims for yourself. What I love may not be the same thing as you love. What I deem to be the best thing since sliced bread may be the most useless contraption of all time. Judge for yourself, but feel free to listen to my un-expert rambling.)

  • This blog does contain content which might present a conflict of interest. This content will always be identified.

(In all seriousness, if I do talk about something, someone or service that I have a relationship with, I will tell you. I LOVE bragging about my friends that have companies and businesses. I LOVE supporting my friends with their business ventures and telling people about it. So, when I am blabbering about how great something is and it happens to be a product sold by my friend, I will PROUDLY tell you about that relationship. Again, please judge for yourself…I already think my new internet friends are way smarter and cooler than me so I trust your ability to come to own conclusions.)

Comment Policy

  • I really welcome and love comments. I love reading comments on other blogs & enjoy the overall comment interaction.
  • I cannot foresee myself blogging about terribly serious or deep topics. Regardless of the post, I’m pretty thin skinned. I don’t react well to mean spirited comments to myself or to anyone else. Sorry, I’m not a paid political pundit and I’m a big wuss. Please be nice to everyone!
  • That being said, I really welcome everyone’s personal perspective. I especially like to hear how someone personally experiences something for themselves.
  • I love following political blogs, but I am mainly stay out of political discussions. I have a lot of friends with different political views than mine and I do  hate to offend anyone. That being said, I’m pretty much a big fat liberal. Okay, I said it. I’m an-southerner blue, blue liberal. I’m not changing. If you’re not a huge liberal like me, you’re probably not changing either. I apologize in advance if I accidentally offend anyone.
  • I reserve the right to delete any comments that appear to be spambots or human created spam garbage. I rely on Askimet and my own eyes to determine what is spam.
  • I’m already found that Askimet can accidentally flag someone incorrectly as spam. If you left a comment, don’t see your comment and you are not a spambot and are not selling anything, please email me at lesley at sillynothings dot com. I want to make sure your comments are coming through and I do hate for the spam filter to accidentally flag you.
  • Please don’t be mean to anyone. I reserve the right to delete comments that are outright mean. I had to start un-friending facebook friends that posted bigoted jokes. Life is too short for that kind of crap.
  • My one overall (Silly) rule. I love being self-deprecating and I appreciate self-deprecating humor. But, I get on my huge soapbox whenever I see anyone trashing themselves, especially their bodies or anything regarding their weight. We (women) spend way too much collective energy beating ourselves up for our bodies. I’ve spent a lot of time and a lot of money (on therapy et al) learning how to NOT talk trash about my body and I try my best not to let any gal around me to that to themselves now. So, if anyone accidentally posts any comments with any remnants of bad self body talk (or any bad self talk), I won’t delete your comment. But, I will get on my silly little soapbox and tell you (loudly) how fabulous you are and how you don’t have the right to talk badly about yourself on my blog.
